Niobium titanium alloy superconductor is the leading material in superconducting industry. Together with Nb3Sn superconductor, it the first choice for practical superconducting magnet applications. It has high upper critical magnetic field (about 11T at 4.2K and 14T at 2K). In addition, it can be drawn well with copper. NbTi has good process plasticity, very high strength and good superconducting properties. The raw material of niobium titanium alloy superconductor and manufacturing costs are much lower than other superconducting materials. NbTi alloy can be heat treated to improve its superconducting properties before being assembled for twisting, winding and other applications. These advantages including its yield strength that is close to the steel will keep the NbTi superconducting alloys widely used for a quite long time.
