Production method of Mo-Re alloy

Firmetal, 2021-12-7 09:08:00 PM

From the chemical composition, the melting point of Mo is 2622℃, the boiling point is 5560℃, with high hardness, low thermal expansion coefficient, high temperature strength, corrosion resistance and good electrical and thermal conductivity characteristics; The melting point of Re is 3180℃, the boiling point is 5627℃, with excellent plastic, mechanical, creep resistance, oxidation resistance, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Therefore, the alloy composed of the two has the advantages of both molybdenum and rhenium. Generally, it is prepared by double sintering, powder metallurgy or medium temperature sintering.

The process route of double sintering method is as follows: mix molybdenum powder and rhenium powder, then pre sintering under pressure and temperature rise, then vacuum sintering, and finally under the protection of hydrogen burning molybdenum rhenium sintered ingot.

The process route of powder metallurgy is as follows: mix molybdenum powder and rhenium powder, and then pre-burn to form Mo-Re presintered ingot, and then burn to form molybdenum rhenium sintered ingot at high temperature.

The process route of medium temperature sintering method is as follows: firstly, molybdenum oxide is reduced to molybdenum powder, ammonium rhenate is reduced to rhenium powder, and then the two are mixed by ball grinding, and then the molybdenum rhenium is sintered under pressure and temperature rise under the mixture of inert gas and reducing gas.

It is commonly used in the manufacture of filament, X-ray tube target material, microwave communication grid plate, high temperature furnace heating element, high temperature thermocouple, reactor core heating tube and protective plate, etc.
