Zirconium tungsten electrodes

Zirconium-tungsten electrode is a kind of electrode developed to improve the defect that pure tungsten electrode is easy to melt and pollute the workpiece under the condition of high load welding. The most important characteristic of this electrode is that the end of this electrode can be kept into a ball to reduce the phenomenon of tungsten penetration under the condition of high load current, and it has good corrosion resistance.

Like pure tungsten electrodes, tungsten-zirconium electrodes can only be welded in an alternating current environment. Tungsten-zirconium electrode has good welding performance under alternating current condition. Especially in the case of high load current, the excellent performance of tungsten zirconium electrode is irreplaceable by other electrodes.

During welding, the ends of the tungsten-zirconium electrode can be kept in a spherical shape to reduce tungsten penetration and have good corrosion resistance. The demand for tungsten-zirconium electrodes will decrease due to the availability of alternative products. The main alternative product is lanthanum tungsten electrode.

Zirconium-tungsten electrodes are also used for ray quality welding. Optimal applications require minimal tungsten contamination. Zirconium-tungsten electrodes are generally used for alternating current and are not recommended for direct current. Zirconium-tungsten electrodes are used for AC welding of magnesium, aluminum and its alloys.

The welding special energy of zirconium-tungsten electrode is located between pure tungsten electrode and thorium tungsten electrode, which is developed to improve the defect of pure tungsten electrode which is easy to melt itself and pollute the workpiece under high load welding condition.
