Hardness of titanium alloy

The density of titanium alloy one Bai is around 4.5g/cm3, which is only 60% of steel. The strength of pure titanium du is close to the strength of Puzhi Tong steel. Some high-strength titanium alloy DAO exceeded the strength of many alloy structural steels. Therefore, the specific strength (strength/density) of titanium alloy is much higher than that of other metal structural materials, as shown in the table, zero and components with high unit strength, good rigidity and light weight can be produced. At present, the aircraft engine components, skeleton, skin, fasteners and landing gear are all made of titanium alloy.

Oxygen, nitrogen, carbon and hydrogen are the main impurities in titanium alloy. Oxygen and nitrogen have higher solubility in phase, which can strengthen titanium alloy significantly, but reduce the plasticity. It is generally stipulated that the content of oxygen and nitrogen in titanium is below 0.15 ~ 0.2% and 0.04 ~ 0.05% respectively. Hydrogen has a very low solubility in the alpha phase, and too much hydrogen dissolved in titanium alloys produces hydrides, which make the alloy brittle. In general, the hydrogen content of titanium alloys is controlled below 0.015%. The dissolution of hydrogen in titanium is reversible and can be removed by vacuum annealing.

The service temperature is several hundred degrees higher than that of aluminum alloy, and the required strength can still be maintained at medium temperature. The two types of titanium alloy can work at 450 ~ 500℃ for a long time, but the specific strength of aluminum alloy is still very high in the range of 150 ~ 500℃. The working temperature of titanium alloy can reach 500℃, while that of aluminum alloy is below 200℃.

The corrosion resistance of titanium alloy is far better than that of stainless steel when working in humid atmosphere and seawater medium. Especially strong resistance to pitting corrosion, acid corrosion and stress corrosion; To alkali, chloride, chlorine organic goods, nitric acid, sulfuric acid and other excellent corrosion resistance. But titanium has poor corrosion resistance to reducing oxygen and chromium salt media.
