Tantalum (Ta) is a refractory metal with excellent corrosion resistance, a high melting point (2996℃), good ductility, and excellent biocompatibility. Due to its extremely high chemical stability, good thermal and electrical conductivity, and stability in high-temperature and strong acid environments, tantalum is widely used in semiconductors, chemical equipment, aerospace, medical implants, vacuum equipment, electronics, jewelry manufacturing, and precision machinery.

Tantalum parts are typically not formed directly from raw materials in a single process, but rather manufactured through multiple steps including powder metallurgy, smelting, plastic forming, machining, surface treatment, and quality inspection. Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment: The semiconductor industry is one of the most important application areas for tantalum parts. During wafer manufacturing, the equipment is frequently exposed to high temperatures, vacuum, and highly corrosive plasma gases such as chlorine (Cl₂), fluorine (F₂), and nitrogen trifluoride (NF₃), which can easily cause corrosion and contamination of ordinary metals. Tantalum, due to its ability to form a stable and dense tantalum pentoxide (Ta₂O₅) protective film, possesses extremely strong resistance to plasma corrosion. Therefore, it is used in the manufacture of tantalum rings, tantalum shields, tantalum bushings, tantalum screws and fasteners, wafer supports, and internal components of vacuum chambers.

These tantalum parts can improve the lifespan of semiconductor equipment, reduce particulate contamination, and enhance the stability of the wafer manufacturing process. In chemical equipment and highly corrosive environments, tantalum is one of the metals with the best corrosion resistance, capable of long-term use in many strong acid and corrosive media environments, and is therefore widely used in the chemical industry. Tantalum processed parts are mainly used in: chemical reactor components, heat exchanger parts, pipe fittings, valve assemblies, sealing rings, and corrosion-protective linings. Especially in environments with hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, chlorides, and organic acids, tantalum maintains good stability. Therefore, tantalum processed parts are commonly used in: fine chemical production equipment, pharmaceutical equipment, high-purity chemical production systems, and chlor-alkali industry equipment. Tantalum has an extremely high melting point (2996℃) and low vapor pressure, and does not produce significant volatilization or contamination in high-temperature vacuum environments, making it ideal for manufacturing high-temperature equipment parts. Main applications include: vacuum furnace heating components, high-temperature support frames, heat shields, electrode assemblies, and furnace fixing fixtures. Applications include: vacuum heat treatment furnaces, crystal growth equipment, high-temperature material experimental equipment, and coating equipment.

In the medical device and implantation field, tantalum possesses excellent biocompatibility and does not cause significant rejection reactions in human tissues, thus it is widely used in medical implants. Tantalum processed parts are mainly used in: orthopedic implants, artificial joint components, dental implants, and surgical instrument parts. In particular, the porous tantalum structure can promote bone cell growth, allowing implants to better integrate with human bone tissue. Aerospace equipment requires materials capable of withstanding high temperatures, high pressures, intense thermal cycling, and vacuum environments. Due to its excellent high-temperature performance and stability, tantalum is used to manufacture components operating in special environments. Main applications include: high-temperature structural components, engine auxiliary parts, spacecraft thermal protection components, high-temperature fasteners, and vacuum system components. Tantalum processed parts ensure long-term stable operation of equipment in extreme environments.
