Commonly used arc melting - casting and powder metallurgy. Arc melting - casting method is to add a certain amount of Ti, Zr and other alloying elements by using the electric arc to melt the pure molybdenum, and then use the conventional casting method to obtain TZM alloy.

The powder metallurgy law is composed of high purity molybdenum powder and THi2 powder, ZrH2 powder and graphite powder, which is evenly mixed with the graphite powder, and then is formed by cold isostatic pressure, and then sintered at high temperature in the protective atmosphere to get the TZM billet. The billet is then heated by hot hot rolling (hot forging), high temperature annealing, medium temperature and hot rolling (medium temperature forging), medium temperature annealing stress, and then temperature rolling (temperature forging), and the finished product of TZM is obtained. The rolling (forging) process of billet and subsequent heat treatment have great influence on material properties, anisotropy and texture.

TZM alloys are usually prepared into rods and plates. Powder metallurgy method can save the electricity arc furnace, vacuum large extrusion press and forging hammer, and corresponding high temperature furnace and other large equipment, the process simplified, shorten production cycle, reduce consumption, production capacity and the yield is improved, so the cost is reduced greatly.
