High strength titanium alloy for marine engineering

Firmetal, 2022-8-4 09:13:00 PM

Titanium alloy has the characteristics of low density, high specific strength, no magnetic, sound transmission, corrosion resistance to sea water and ocean atmosphere, shock resistance and good machinability, which makes it an ideal metal structure material for ocean engineering. The use of titanium alloy in ocean ships greatly reduces the weight of the ship, increases the load, improves the tolerance of the ship to the Marine environment, prolongs the service life of equipment, and improves the overall tactical and technical performance of the ship.

Based on the requirements of Marine environment, titanium alloys used in Marine industry need to have the properties of pressure resistance, seawater corrosion resistance and easy processing. The representative models of Marine titanium alloys in China are TC4ELI, Ti80 and Ti-B19. The thermal stability, corrosion resistance and weldability of TC4ELI and Ti80 are good, but the strength is not high, which cannot meet the requirements of higher strength titanium alloy in Marine industry. Ti-B19 has high strength, high toughness and good machinability. However, as a kind of near β titanium alloy, it needs a long time of aging heat treatment after welding to ensure the matching of strength and toughness, which seriously limits its application scope in the Marine industry.

In order to meet the requirements of industrial production and ocean engineering application, it is urgent to develop a titanium alloy with high strength, high toughness, excellent seawater corrosion resistance and no long time aging heat treatment after welding.

A high strength and toughness titanium alloy for Marine engineering is provided characterized by, characterized by, composition of the following mass percent: Aluminum 3.5% ~ 6.5%, Stannum 0.5% ~ 3.0%, Zirconium 3.0%-6.0%, Molybdenum 0.5% ~ 2.5%, Vanadium 0.5% ~ 2.5%, Niobium 0.5% ~ 3.0%, the allowance is Ti and unavoidable impurities; The tensile strength is greater than 850MPa, the yield strength is greater than 720MPa, and the impact toughness is greater than 30J/cm2 after the simple annealing or double annealing treatment of the high strength and toughness titanium alloy used in ocean engineering.
