Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5) Introduction

Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy takes good advantages in comprehensive performance and technological characteristics. Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy has good creep resistance, thermal stability, high fatigue resistance and crack growth resistance in seawater. In addition, Ti-6AL-4V owns satisfied bending toughness as well as thermohaline stress corrosion performance. Its sensitivity to the hydrogen is smaller than other titanium alloys. Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy has excellent process plasticity and superplasticity. It is suitable for forming by various kinds of pressure machining, its welding and machining can be done in various ways.

Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5) Application

The main semi-finished forms of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy are titanium rod, forging, titanium sheet, titanium plate, profile and titanium wire, etc. It also can be used for casting. The alloy is processed after annealing, and it can be strengthened by solidification aging treatment. The quenching cross section is generally no more than 25 to 30mm. It is suitable for manufacturing various parts that work within the wide temperature range from -196 ˚C to 450˚C, especially the parts designed with damage tolerance principle. Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy is widely used in aerospace industry and civil industry. The output of semi-finished Ti-6Al-4V alloy products in the world accounts for more than half of the total semi-finished titanium alloy ones. More than 80% of the products are made in the aerospace industry.
