Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5) Introduction

The main advantages of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy are excellent comprehensive performance and good technological characteristics. Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy has a medium strength at room temperature and high temperature, good creep resistance and thermal stability, high performance and fatigue crack growth resistance of seawater, and satisfaction of salt stress corrosion fracture toughness and heat performance, sensitivity to the hydrogen is smaller than other alloys. Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy has excellent process plasticity and superplasticity. It is suitable for the forming of various kinds of pressure machining methods, its welding and machining can be done in various ways.

Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5) Application

The main semi-finished form of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy is titanium rod, forging, titanium sheet, titanium plate, profile and titanium wire, etc., also can be used for casting. The alloy is mainly used in annealing, and it can be strengthened with a certain degree of solidification aging treatment. However, the quenching cross section is generally no more than 25 to 30mm. It is suitable for manufacturing various parts that work within the wide temperature range from -196-450˚C, especially the parts designed with damage tolerance principle. Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy has been widely used in aerospace industry and civil industry. The production of Ti-6Al-4V alloy semi-finished products of the world accounts for more than half of the total output of all titanium alloy semi-finished products, and more than 80% in the aerospace industry.
