Tantalum Foil & Tantalum Strip Products Standard

All tantalum foil and tantalum strip (UNS R05200), Ta-2.5W and Ta-2.5W strip (UNS R05252), Ta-10W foil and Ta-10W strip (UNS R05255), Ta-40Nb foil and Ta-40Nb strip (UNS R05240) follow ASTM B708.

Tantalum Foil & Tantalum Strip Production Technology

  • Electron beam melting tantalum ingot - at room temperature (400 °C or less) forging breakdown - annealing - roughing - annealing - strip rolling - annealing - foil rolling - heat treatment.

  • Forging breakdown had better use the cold forging press and forging temperature is not higher than 400 °C. Cold forging's contact surface is large, the material organization uniformity is good, can reduce the pollution of the gas impurities.

  • Cold rolling is usually applied, the total machining rate is 80% to 90% of the thickness of the slab, and the total processing rate is 6% to 8% of the plate thickness. In order to ensure the surface quality of rolled sheet, it is required to have no defect, pollution and roll surface.
